Adeline Seljevold passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Adeline Bekkerus was born in 1925 to Gilbert and Selina Bekkerus on the family farm in rural Glyndon, MN. She spent her youth in Glyndon, graduating from Glyndon High School in 1943. After graduating she spent a summer working in New York City and returned to the Fargo Moorhead area where she worked for Northwestern Bell for 25 years. In 1949 she married Phil Seljevold in Moorhead, MN where they made their home and raised a family. Phil and Adeline recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Adeline was active in her church as a member of the Altar Guild, quilting club, Circle and numerous Bible studies; she and Phil were also volunteers with Meals on Wheels. Adeline had a warm, easy going personality and treasured time with her family and friends. She and Phil spent their summers at Lake Sybil near Vergas, MN welcoming friends and family to the family cabin. Her real joy was spending time with her family and especially her 11 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and remembered for her grace, strong faith, calm spirit and shining example of family love. She is survived by her devoted husband Phil, daughter Nancy Doug Hastad of Waukesha, WI and their children Jacob and Rebekah, daughter Julie Dan Rosenfeldt of Moorhead, MN and their children Kari Joe Stattelman great-grandchildren Haley and Shayla, Steve Jade, Rachael fiancé Tyler Spriggs and Katie; son Larry Karen Seljevold of Moorhead, MN and their children Lars and Maren; son Peter Lisa Seljevold of Moorhead, MN and their children Kylee, Greta and Emmy; siblings Alvina Paulson, Helen Peterson, Margaret John Harkness and Russell Lois Bekkerus; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Rosalyn Bekkerus, Helen Seim, and Elsie Gene Huber. She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Selina Helseth Bekkerus, brothers Orvest and Gordon, an infant son Thomas and grandson Travis Rosenfeldt. Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Bell Tower Fund, American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Red River Valley. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to everyone for their prayers, love and support during Adeline's illness.
