Adeline E. Corwin

Adeline E. Corwin, Ulen, MN, passed away at Viking Manor on July 30, 2018, at the age of 94.

Adeline was born to Laurits and Bertha (Albertson) Melby on August 23, 1923 in Rustad, MN.  She graduated from Moorhead High School and went on to receive her teaching degree from Moorhead State University.  Adeline was an elementary school teacher for Ulen-Hitterdal schools from 1953 until her retirement in 1982. She married Gene “Jack” Corwin on October 20, 1945.

Outside of teaching, Adeline had many and varied interests.  Family has always been important to her, and she took pride in the interests and activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  While raising her family on the farm, she enjoyed gardening, baking and mowing her large yard.  Adeline was active as a 4-H leader for many years.  She was a member of the Ladies Aid and circles at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Adeline always had a strong interest in art, both teaching art to her students and with her own drawing and painting.  She was a founding member of the Northern Lights Art Guild.  Following her retirement, Adeline was an active volunteer with the Bethlehem Quilters and the Viking Manor Guild.  In her later years she did some traveling, including a bus tour of the northeastern United States and a memorable trip to Norway.

Among family and friends, Adeline was recognized for her sense of humor and was always willing to try new things.  She appreciated the caring people at Viking Manor and enjoyed participating in the varied activities available there.  The family would like to thank the staff for their care.

Adeline is survived by her children, Judy Corwin, Burnsville, MN, David (Lorelei) Corwin, Ulen, MN; daughter-in-law, Deb Corwin; son-in-law, Duane (Rita) Davis; eight grandchildren, Bekki (Steve) Majerus, Joel (Josie) Davis, Shelly (Dusty) Johnson, Shila (Kevin) Tobosa, Amber (George) Ebert, Adam Corwin, Casey (Chrissy) Corwin, Erin Corwin and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Lynn (Dolly) Melby, Fargo, ND, Alan (Loretta) Melby, Hawley, MN, Vivian Poach, Merced, CA, Rodney (Diane) Melby, Bismarck, ND, Gary (Carol) Melby, Minneapolis, MN as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sue Davis and son, Jim Corwin; siblings, Bernice (George) Schenck, Gloria (Louie) Flom, Doris Seifert and Stanley (Bonnie) Melby.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
