Agnes “Aggie” M. Johnson, 92, of Hawley, MN, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Agnes Marion Hogetvedt was born on July 15, 1920, in Hawley, MN, to Alfred and Mabel Erickson Hogetvedt. She grew up and attended school in Hawley, MN. On August 17, 1940, she married Walter Johnson in Hawley, MN. Aggie and Walt owned Walt’s Service & Cafe from 1948 – 1955. From 1960 – 1973 they owned Twin Arrows Resort on Lake Melissa. They were members at Hawley Lutheran Church, where Aggie was very active in circle and the homemaker’s group. Aggie was a great baker and was famous for the buns she made. She also enjoyed gardening and all crafts, including embroidery, sewing and painting.
Aggie is survived by her daughter -in-law, Betty Johnson, Brooklyn Park, MN; granddaughter, Brita Shawn Schemmel, Prior Lake, MN; grandson, Leigh Johnson, Hawley, MN; two great-grandsons, Bastian and Soren Schemmel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Ronald; three brothers, Carl, Ernest and Alfred Hogetvedt; and four sisters, Verna Larson, Lola Fischer, Jeanette Perala and Eunice Bergseid.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and the American Cancer Association.
Funeral: Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
Visitation: One hour prior to service.
Interment: Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
