Agnes G. Halvorson, 93, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Agnes Tangen was born on October 9, 1914, in Pittsville, WI to Elling and Caroline Olson Tangen. She grew up in Clay County, Minnesota, and attended rural country school in Muskada, MN. Agnes married Elder Halvorson on April 3, 1938 in Hawley, together they had eight children. She worked for Schroeder's Farms, OK Diner, Reidy's Drive In and St. Luke's Hospital, retiring in 1976. Agnes enjoyed her family and numerous friends, quilting, flower gardening, canning and pickling, baking, and doing things for others. Blessed be the memory of Agnes, she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Larry Romona Halvorson of Grand Forks, ND and Duane Joyce Halvorson of New Hope, MN; six daughters, Carol Spencer Fjeld of Hawley, MN, Norma Harley Dauner of Hawley, MN, Ida Mae George Cook of Moorhead, MN, Gail DeWayne Erickson of Lake Park, MN, Phyllis Wayne Erickson of Pelican Rapids, MN and Susan Harry Smith of Chanhassen, MN; three brothers, Melgard Annie Tangen of Hawley, MN, Elmer Tangen of Ulen, MN, and Leonard Tangen of Hawley, MN; one sister, Clarice Alfred Amundson of Moorhead, MN; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Tangen of Hawley, MN, and Arlene Tangen of Moorhead, MN; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder; her parents, Elling and Caroline; two brothers, Elling and Selmer Tangen; two infant brothers, Carl and Gilbert Tangen; two infant sisters, Mildred and Norma Jean Tangen; two grandchildren, Kristine and Mary Fjeld; one great-grandchild, Anna Erickson; and one grandchild in-law, David Odegaard.
