Agnes V. Coalwell, 99, of Lake Park, Minnesota, died Monday, February 23, 2009, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, Minnesota, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Agnes was born July 20, 1909 on a farm northwest of Hitterdal, Minnesota, to Gustav and Sarah Walstrom Lofgren. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN. When Agnes was four they moved to a farm southeast of Hitterdal where she grew up. She graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1928. Agnes married Myron Coalwell on November 26, 1936 in Lake Park, Minnesota. Together they lived in Ulen, Hawley, Northfield and Felton before moving to Dilworth in 1952 after Myron began working for the railroad. Agnes lived in Wahpeton for six years before she became a resident of Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN, for the past two years.Agnes was a member of Dilworth Lutheran Church for over 50 years, where she was active in Ladies Aide and Circle. She enjoyed baking, sewing, writing letters and sending Christmas cards.She is survived by five sons, Jerry Bea Coalwell, Dilworth, MN, Loren Connie Coalwell, Wahpeton, ND, Lyle Debbie Coalwell, Villa Rica, GA, Jim Lois Coalwell, Ventura, CA, and Steven Karn Coalwell, Oxnard, CA; six daughters, Marge Larry Morris, Moorhead, MN, January Larry Oltman, Wadena, MN, Anita Robert Olson, Detroit Lakes, MN, Lauri Jim Dawson, Ventura, CA, Sandy Ron Hendricksen, Moorhead, MN, and Della Coalwell, Northridge, CA; one sister, Ruth Malakowsky, Hitterdal, MN; one daughter-in-law, Esther Coalwell of, Stillwater, MN; thirty-six grandchildren; sixty-two great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Richard; seven brothers, Roy, Lloyd, infant brother, Vondel, Vernon, George, Ralph & Leo Lofgren; five sisters, Anna, Ella, Emma, Marlene & an infant sister; one grandson, Robbie Olson and one great-granddaughter, Blaire Olson.The family of Agnes wishes to thank the staff of Sunnyside Care Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the kind and loving care of Agnes.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.
