Aili Pearl Vasseur

Aili Pearl (Gunderson) Vasseur, 75, of Hawley, MN, passed on to her heavenly reward at 5:10am CST January 31st, 2024.

Aili was born February 22nd, 1948, to Palmer and Ellen (Johnson) Gunderson in Cook, Minnesota. She was a long-time resident of Hawley where she grew up and graduated from Hawley High School. She went on to study nursing in Minneapolis, MN, where she met and married Delta Delle Vasseur. Together they had three girls, Andrina Ellen, Cylen Elizabeth, and Kari Jo. The family lived in different states over the years. The girls were born in Washington. The family moved to Texas so that she and Delle could pursue becoming missionaries for the deaf.

While in Texas, she and Delle attended South Plains College where she graduated Phi Theta Kappa with an associate degree in Electronic Engineering. After the loss of Cylen in 1987, she moved back to Minnesota with Delle and Kari. Andrina followed a year later. After the passing of Delle, she moved home to Hawley.

Aili was very involved in her local church. She found joy and comfort in her faith in God and attended church as much as she was able. She enjoyed crafts and was active with Handmade Hope at her church, Hawley Alliance, crafting items to send to missionaries, orphanages, Teen Challenge, and such. Aili loved doing for others even before herself. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Andrina (David) Rich and Kari Olson; steop-daughter, Velda Ray Meares; grandchildren, Bradford Franks, Jr., Robert Vasseur, Tyler Vasseur, Zachary Lindstrom, Betty, Camille, Kyle, Lillian, Naomi Olson, and Elizabeth Meares; great-granddaughters, Cylen and Jerrylynn Vasseur; step-daughter, Mimi (Mike) Meares; siblings, Judy Lunder, Robert, Eddie, and Jimmy Gunderson. Aili is preceded in death by her daughter, Cylen Vasseur; husband, Delle Vasseur; parents, Ellen and Palmer Gunderson; and her brother, Larry Gunderson.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Hawley Alliance Church, Hawley, MN. Final resting place will be at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
