Albert Sylvester Cooper passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018, surrounded by his family. He displayed an overwhelmingly positive attitude and determination in his courageous battle with cancer that amazed everyone who met him. Albert was born to John and Edna Cooper in Nashua, MN, on March 27, 1934. He grew up on a farm near Nashua, MN where he farmed with his Dad. As the youngest of seven, he became his Dad’s little ‘Pal’. The nickname stuck and he was affectionately known as ‘Pal’ to many friends and family.
On April 19th, 1963, he was united in marriage to Karen Kath. They farmed near Charlesville, MN before moving to Karen’s home farm where they lived for the next 19 years. Albert was a farmer and also did construction. He retired from farming in 1986 and they moved to Breckenridge, MN, where Karen was a travel agent. Over the years Albert and Karen were able to take many fun trips together. In their later years they lived in Moorhead, MN. They were blessed to be married for 53 years.
Albert enjoyed homebuilding with his sons, woodworking and could often be found in his garage working on various projects. He liked to collect toy tractors and had recently worked with his son Kory to restore the Ford 8N his own dad bought new in 1949. Albert was a family man and was especially close with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending all of the events his grandchildren were a part of and they all brought much joy to his life.
Albert is survived by four children, Roland (Jennifer) Cooper, Alan (Cindy) Cooper, Angie (Mike) Edenborg, all of Moorhead, MN, and Kory (Elissa) Cooper, of Glyndon, MN, and ten grandchildren; Ashley, Amanda, Matthew, Cody, Nickolas, Marissa, Wyatt and Beau Cooper and Kylie and Dylan Edenborg. He is also survived by a brother, Lawrence Cooper, Albertville, MN, and sister-in-law, Irene Cooper, Apple Valley, MN, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, three sisters, Cecilia Locke, Olive Stanislowski and Pearl Cooper and two brothers, John Cooper and Leo Cooper.
