Albert was born April 20, 1920 to John and Erna Rose Paasch in Sabin, MN. He grew up and attended school there. In 1942 Albert enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Radio Operator 2nd Class until 1945. While on active duty, Albert participated in the invasions of Sicely, Salerno, and Anzio, Italy. He was wounded while in Anzio aboard the USS LCI-20. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. After the war Albert returned to his hometown of Sabin. In 1947 he married Alice Croninger at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. They continued to live in Sabin where Albert then opened "Albert's Place" and ran it for 7 years. He later owned "Paasch Well Drilling" and operated it from 1955 to 1985. Albert was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Elks Club, DAV of Fargo, and the Eagles Club. He really enjoyed his time in the North Dakota Amateur Fast Pitch Softball Association, he was a member of the Hall of Fame, and was the manager of the Sabin Club for 30 years. Albert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice; sisters, Elsie Amundsen of Abercrombie, ND, Stella Herbert Flatt of Detroit Lakes, MN, Velma Sauvageau of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Irene Ekre, Leona Smith, Eleanor Johnson; and 2 brothers, Roland and William Paasch.
