Alden L. Foss

Alden Leon Foss1921-2011Age 89 of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at Bethany Homes, Monday, October 31, 2011.

Alden was born December 17, 1921 in Page ND, son of Jane and Palmer Foss. He attended high school in Valley City and then attended the NDSU school of Pharmacy. His studies were interrupted as he joined the army and fought in World War II in the Italian theater. After the war he returned home and graduated from Pharmacy school. He joined his father at the Foss Drug Store in Valley City ND. Alden expanded the drug store operations, building new stores in Moorhead's Holiday Mall and again in the downtown Moorhead Center Mall.

Alden was very active in the community, serving on the bank boards, the NDSU Foundation Board, and in numerous professional organizations. He enjoyed knowing and serving his customers. Alden married Helen Snedigar December 26th, 1947 and they had celebrated their 64th anniversary. They lived in Fargo and raised two children, Paul Foss, and Susan Hayer both of Fargo. Alden and Helen enjoyed their only granddaughter, Paige Hayer, Fargo and spending time with family and friends at their summer home at Pelican Lake.

Alden is survived by his wife, Helen Foss, Fargo, ND; son Paul L. Foss, Fargo, ND; daughter Susan Hayer, Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Paige Hayer, Fargo, ND; He was preceded in death by a brother.

Memorials may be given to NDSU Athletic Scholarships.
