Alfred R. Johnson

Alfred Reynold Johnson, 87, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, died there on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
Alfred was born May 24, 1927 in Flaxton, ND, to Andrew and Mary Krogen Johnson. He attended school in Loma, ND. After schooling Al stayed on the home farm for six months and then moved to Fargo, where he worked for his sister and brother-in-law in farming. He did this for five years.
Al entered the service near the end of WWII and was released to help on the farm. Alfred entered the US Army in 1950 for the 2nd time and served for two more years in the Korean War in order to finish out his time.
He moved to Langdon, ND and worked at a filling station and Dorothy was a waitress at the café. Al and Dorothy were married on February 10, 1953 in Mount Carmel, ND. They moved to Wahpeton and Al attended North Dakota State School of Science in Mechanics. He took a job in LaMoure, ND at a garage and worked there for one to two years before moving to Dilworth, MN where he did mechanic work. Eventually Alfred moved to Moorhead, MN and began working for John Deere Equipment in Fargo, ND. He retired in 1985. Hobbies included crafts and woodworking.
Al is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Moorhead; children Donna Marie Grenz, Elk Grove Village, IL, Faye Kathryn Johnson, Moorhead, MN, Sandra Mary Baxa Robert, Hanover, MN, Andrew Dominic Emilie Johnson, Hawley, MN, and Roger Alan Sally, Waverly, IA; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; son-in-law Gordon Smith, Moorhead, MN.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth Ann, parents, siblings, Marie Echolz, Evelyn Johnson, Harold Johnson and Mildred Seagrean.
Visitation: Sunday, January 11, 2015, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. There will be a prayer service at 4:30 P.M., with the Rosary to follow.
Funeral: Monday, January 12, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
