Alice Hesteness, age 91, of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Essentia Health on March 29, 2013.
Alice Sandberg was born to Arthur and Mabel Sandberg on November 24, 1921, in Fargo, North Dakota. She grew up in Pettibone, ND and graduated from Pettibone High School in 1939. On November 18, 1947, Alice married Kenneth Hesteness in Jamestown, ND. They moved to Hawley, MN in 1959.
Alice worked at Hawley Manor for many years and as the bookkeeper for the family business, Hi-10 Sports Center. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon race in NASCAR and Blake Jegtvig race at Buffalo River Speedway. Alice’s true passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice will be missed and remembered by her husband, Kenneth of Hawley, MN; her three sons: Perry of Hailey, Idaho, Gary Pam of Mission, TX, and Larry Sue of Hawley, MN. She had four grandchildren: Allyson, Ashley, Craig and Jill, as well as two great-grandchildren: Rolando Jr. and Victoria.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hawley Senior Living for the kind and loving care of Alice.
There will be a visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4th, at Hawley Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery in Hawley. Arrangements by Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
