Alice Marguerite (Bergseid) Floberg, daughter of Joseph and Ida (Arntson) Bergseid was born on October 13, 1930 during a snowstorm at home in Pelican Rapids, MN. She died peacefully on April 13, 2022 with family members at her side.
She was one of nine children. Alice was baptized and confirmed at Rollag Lutheran Church by Rev. S.G. Hauge. She grew up near Rollag, MN attended school in Tansem Township District 77 through 8th grade. Alice attended Barnesville High School grades 9 & 10, transferred to Hawley High School and graduated in 1949. It was there that she had met the love of her life, Vincent Floberg. On June 5, 1949, three days after her graduation they were married by the Rev. S.G. Hauge on the Bergseid farm.
Together Alice and Vincent raised five children, Kathleen, Gregory, Marcus, Peggy, and John.
Throughout the years Alice and Vincent enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, including trips to Norway and across the United States. They graciously opened their home to family and friends, foreign exchange students, and foster children during the years.
Alice’s hands were always busy. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, knitting, rosemaling, hardanger, sewing, and her coffee. For many years she reigned as Grand Champion in many categories at the Clay County Fair for her handiwork and recipients of her beautiful pieces will treasure them always.
Alice and Vincent moved to the lake in their retirement, where they took pride in gathering their nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and hosting countless family reunions and coffee hours. Alice never turned down an invitation from family and friends and took pride in her promptness.
Following Vincent’s death in 2016 she moved into Barnesville and at the time of her death was a resident of Valley Care and Rehab where she was loved by the staff and residents.
