Alice O. Oliver of Moorhead died February 1, 2005 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Alice Larson was born in Johnsonburg, PA October 30, 1914 to Sam and Elsa Larson. A graduate of Grove City College, Grove City, PA. She had the challenging opportunity to begin her teaching career in a country school prior to teaching English in the Johnsonburg High School. She was married to Dr. James Oliver in St. Paul, MN on May 3, 1943. In 1945 they moved to Moorhead and with a few exceptions, including a two year stay in Germany and the three years in Minneapolis, have continue to live in Moorhead.She was a member of numerous organizations including university women, c-400, founding member of chapter CO of PEO, and treasured also the years of involvement in Campfire activities receiving the Luther Gulvick Award. An over 50 year member of First Congregational Church in Moorhead, she served in many capacities including a term as state board member, enjoyed years of teaching church high school classes and singing in the choir. Being fluent in Swedish, her many visits to Sweden to meet her first cousins and families were especially rewarding and a source of many treasured memories. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a devout Christian, a caring, devoted and honored wife striving always to serve others with dignity, trust and respect. She will truly be missed greatly by all of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Dr. Susan Oliver, Boulder, Co and Kathy Oliver, Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Chelsea and grandson Gabriel and her sister, Margaret, Eadi, CAThe family requests that memorial, if so desired, be given to First Congregational Church, Moorhead, MN or Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
