Allen R. ’Mitch’ Mitchell

Allen Ray "Mitch" Mitchell, 81, of Moorhead, died Friday, September 30, 2011 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Allen was born on November 15, 1929 in Skellytown, TX to Donald and MayBelle Mortenson Mitchell. He grew up and graduated from high school in Benson, MN. Allen then served in the United States Army. On January 29, 1950 he married Joyce Larson in Benson, MN. In 1969 they moved to Moorhead, MN where they have resided since. Allen was an avid fisherman and loved to bowl. He also was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Allen is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce; four daughters, Julie Joe Bradley, Leavenworth, KS, Nancy Lund, Moorhead, MN, Cindy Gary Markey, Moorhead, MN and Lauri Sandry, Audubon, MN; two sons, Rod Carol Mitchell, Detroit Lakes, MN and Gordon Brenda Mitchell, Moorhead, MN; two brothers, Gary Caroline Mitchell, Littleton, CO and David Mitchell, Sartell, MN; sister, DeeAnn Mitchell of Benson, MN; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronnie.
