Allen W. Scilley

Allen W. Scilley, 86 of Dilworth, MN passed away Monday, September 15 at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, with his wife and family at his side.

Allen W. Scilley, son of John and Harriett McGuigan Scilley, was born on February 3, 1928 in Fargo, ND. He was raised in Leonard, ND and graduated from High School there in June of 1946. After graduation he served 2 years in the United States Army, stationed in Okinawa Japan. After his return he enrolled in the electrical program at Wahpeton State School of Science; graduating in 1950. That same year he moved to Fargo, ND and began his 37 year career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. It is there he met the love of his life, Phyllis Snell; they were married on November 22, 1952.

They raised a family of four boys in the nearby town of Dilworth, MN. He retired there from his secular work in 1986. He spent the next several years as a volunteer assisting his wife preparing tax returns at various free tax preparation sites around the area.

He will be dearly missed by wife of 62 years Phyllis, Dilworth, MN; sons, Darrell Carolyn, Connell, WA, Rod Roberta, Thompson, ND, Brad Karen, Bemidji, MN, Les, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Samuel, Benjamin, Thomas, Jocelyn, Lorelei and Adam; his mother, Harriett; brothers, Charles, Donald and Larry; sister, Margaret and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father John Scilley
