Alma Marie Bingham

Alma Marie (Collins) Bingham age 96 of Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Bethany On University facility in Fargo, ND following her challenge with the COVID virus.

Alma was born on September 7, 1924 to Allen and Pearl Collins of Bradley, Arkansas. Growing up in Bradley, she graduated from Bradley High School before continuing her education in nursing as a cadet during WWII achieving her RN certificate. During her nursing service to the military she met Sargent Merle Bingham, an aircraft crew chief in the Army AirCorps. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1946 before locating to Hardwick, Massachusetts, Merle’s hometown where they settled for near 65 years and raised their three children Beverly, Harriet, and Merle Jr.

During this period found Alma working as a private nurse and serving on the Ladies Auxiliary at Mary Lane Hospital in several office positions including a term as President. She was active in community and church activities as well as the Daughters of the Nile associated with the Shriners Hospital for children.

Being an avid reader, Alma enjoyed a variety of publications from the local newspaper, choice novels, and Nursing journals to keep up on her medical interests. Relaxation revolved around music with a primary following of Jazz along with world travel in their retirement years.

Alma is survived by her children, Beverly Goodwin, Harriet Meurer and Merle Jr; Grandchildren; Michele Kibler, Sherry “Liz” Brownlow, James “Tiny” Goodwin; 3 great-grandchildren; Calvin “CJ”, Christian, and Collin along with many other loving relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Merle; parents, Allen and Pearl; brother, Michael Collins; son-In-law, James Goodwin.

Alma requested the option to decline any services to be held.
