Alton I. Lunde

Alton Irving Lunde, 89, of Lake Park, MN, passed away at home with family on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Alton was born September 9, 1924, on the family farm to Severt and Carrie Raun Lunde. He grew up on the farm, and attended country school before continuing his education at Ulen High School. Following high school he farmed until enlisting with the Merchant Marines, where he served overseas during WWII. Alton then moved back to Ulen to farm with family. On November 19, 1955, he married Marian Roen in Alexandria, MN. Together they made their home, the Lake Park Children’s Home, and farmed, near Lake Park. Alton loved farming and was able to enjoy their time on the farm until moving in to town in 2003. He continued to farm up to the age of 85 while working various jobs over the past few years with Swift Co., David Larson Farms and Mattson Farms. Alton was a very genuine person who enjoyed spending time and helping others. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and dancing, but most of all loved his time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alton is survived by his wife, Marian; sons, Brian Shelly Lunde, and Bruce Leanna Lunde; grandchildren, Jamie Lunde, Jessie Darcy Burnside, Lee Ann Nick Buttino, Brandon Lunde, Jacob Lunde, Caleb Lunde; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Gavin and Tenley Burnside; and brother, Harold Lorraine Lunde.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Stanley.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014, in Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN. Memorial gathering will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
