Alys D. Oberg

Alys D. Oberg, 83, of Moorhead, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Alys Delores Tangen was born on December 23, 1927 in Kragnes, MN to Rudolph and Claribel Richards Tangen. She grew up in Kragnes, where she graduated from high school. Alys also graduated from Fargo Business College. She worked at Farmer's Union, Moorhead, MN. On December 12, 1948 Alys married Elmer Oberg in Concordia Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN. They made their home near Kragnes, where they farmed and raised their four children. Alys was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed being involved with her community. This included the North Buffalo Lutheran Church Circle, Ladies Aid, Birthday Club, Card Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church serving group. Alys was also a member of Arab Patrol Ladies of El Zagal Shrine, Elks, Eagles and Sons of Norway. She also enjoyed planning outings and road trips for all of her friends. Alys and Elmer spent their winters for 25 years in Phoenix, AZ with their daughter, Donna, where they were also involved in activities with their friends. Alys was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother who was very active in her family's lives. The family of Alys wants to thank Rosewood on Broadway and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care and kindness of Alys.Alys is survived by her husband, Elmer, Moorhead, MN; one son, Rick Laurie Oberg, Fargo, ND; three daughters, Diane Ron Rehder, Moorhead, MN, Donna Rick Aune, Phoenix, AZ and Connie Doug Lau, Moorhead, MN; sister, Lois Seter, Moorhead; seven grandchildren, Chad Leslie Oberg, Dawn Chris Nelson, Missy Rehder, Mindy Rehder, Jason Aune, Matthew Sara Lau and Christopher Lau; and one great-grandson, Stuart Oberg. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Oberlin Tangen.
