Amy Larson, 85, 1400 7th Street South, Moorhead, MN, died on Thursday, April 5, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Amy was born on February 19, 1922, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Carl and Hilda Seidel Bakken. She grew up in rural Otter Tail County finishing the 8th grade there. She moved to North Dakota where she attended and graduated from Wyndmere, ND, high school in 1939. She worked in Pelican Rapids and Breckenridge, MN, prior to her marriage. Amy married Trumen Larson on May 16, 1940 and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. Following her marriage she was employed by the Moorhead Post Office, American Crystal Sugar Company and in 1952, she went to work at the Clay County Auditor's office where she remained until her retirement on December 31, 1982. For the first 17 years she was a chief deputy auditor and on February 1, 1969 was appointed County Auditor. She had been active in Soroptomists of Moorhead for 29 years. Her husband, Trumen, died on July 25, 1994. Amy loved to sew, crochet and entertain. She dressed Teddy bears for many years for the Salvation Army, which were then given to hospitalized children at Christmas. She sewed for her grandchildren and has crocheted afghans for all of them. Amy held a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Amy is survived by a son, Richard Nancy Larson, Claremont, CA; daughter Carol Hofsommer, Fargo, ND; brother Robert Bakken, Wichita, Kansas; sister, Vonnie Rostad, West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Renee, and seven siblings.
