Ann J. Lee

Ann Jeanette (Teigen) Lee passed away peacefully on Sunday October 22, 2017 at the age of 86.

Ann was born on February 4, 1931, to Lars and Jonette (Dahle) Teigen, both immigrants from Norway, in Starbuck MN. After her natural mother’s death in 1939, her father remarried Ruth Aslakson, who lovingly raised Ann and her five brothers.

Ann graduated from Starbuck high school in 1949. She attended Concordia College where she earned a degree in elementary education, graduating in 1954. She married her soul mate, Carl Lee, on August 16, 1953. They lived in Roseville, MN while Carl attended seminary. Their first assigned church was in Big Sandy Montana, where both of their sons, Mike and Ron, were born. They celebrated a well-traveled, joyful life, culminating in Carl’s 34 years of service at Concordia College.

Ann is warmly remembered by the thousands of elementary students, parents and teachers whose lives she touched over her decades of teaching and mentoring, including schools in South Dakota, Montana, Minneapolis and Moorhead. She provided joy to many parishes by sharing her Concordia College Concert Choir voice to church choirs for decades. She is treasured by her many friends and family who remember her wit, compassion and kindness. She was the stoic, sometimes silent, always present partner, mother, friend and teacher on whom everyone depended.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ragnar, Howard, Richard, Dewey and Norman, and her husband Carl. She is survived by her sons Mike (Chicago) and Ron Moorhead), daughters-in-law Mary and Karen, and grandchildren Michelle, Mark, Brianne and Kara.

A memorial gathering will be held Thursday Oct. 26th, 5 to 7 pm, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Oct. 27th, at 11 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be gratefully accepted to the Rev. Carl and Ann Lee Memorial Fund at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN.
