Archie E. Seydel

Archie Edwin Seydel, the tenth child of Frederick and Louise Schneider Seydel's 12 children, was born July 10, 1934 on his parent's farm near the village of Dale, in rural Becker Country, MN. Archie suffered from epileptic seizures that caused mental retardation, although he did complete 3 years of rural school at District 41. Archie attended Minnesota institutions for the mentally handicapped in Cambridge, Brainerd and Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes. In 1972, Archie returned to live on the Seydel family farm with his brothers Wilbert and Grant Seydel. Since 1989, Archie lived at Lakes Homes and worked at the Becker County DAC until retiring in 1999.Archie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Leona Koenig Sletmoen, Sylvia Nearhoof, Luella Lindstrom, Elline Noben and brothers Wilbert, Junior and Elroy.Archie is survived by brothers Grant Seydel, Hitterdal, MN, who lives on the Seydel homestead, Eugene Sandy Seydel, Willmar, MN and sisters Esther Walter Atkinson, Bemidji, MN and Lyla Paul Olson, Lake Park, MN and 24 nieces and nephews.
