Ardythe J. Stempf

Ardythe J. Stempf, 85, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Ardythe was born April 17, 1928, to Elmer and Anna Johnson Mechum. She grew up and attended school in Glyndon, graduating in 1946. She then continued her education at Moorhead State University. On April 14, 1950, Ardythe married Ray Stempf in Glyndon. Together they lived in Chicago for three years before moving back to Glyndon. In 1964, they purchased Valley Window and Siding, which they owned and operated for many years. Ardythe enjoyed traveling and spending time at their lake homes on Lake Eunice and Lake Lida, but most of all spending time with family.

She was well known in Glyndon for her love of cats, “The Cat Lady.”

Ardythe is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Pam Mike Gruchalla of Fargo, ND, Jeff Stempf of Moorhead, MN, Shelly Wright of Moorhead, MN, Steve Stempf of Indiana, PA; grandchildren, Beau Tonya Matson of Lake Park, MN, Mindy John Sackrider of Batavia, OH, Shannon Wright of West Fargo, ND; and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Cole and Gage Matson.

She was preceded in death by grandson, Shawn; brother, Kenneth Mechum; and sister, Eileen Hector.

Visitation: Friday, November, 29, 2013, from 5 – 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Saturday, at 11 a.m., in Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
