Arlene Carol Schultz

Arlene Schultz, 85, of Wahpeton, ND, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Farmstead Living in Moorhead, MN under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Arlene Carol Sistek was born October 19, 1935, in Berwyn, IL, to Joseph and Mary ( Hradecky ) Sistek. She grew up in Berwyn, IL and graduated from Morton High School in 1953.

On April 2, 1954, Arlene was united in marriage to Paul J. Schultz in Berkely, CA. They were blessed with three sons: John, Michael and Kurt.  The family would move frequently due to Paul’s work as an engineer in the oil fields, but in 1972 they settled in Wahpeton, ND.

Arlene worked many years in the business office of St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN.  Even after her retirement in 1998 she enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Food Pantry.  She was an active member of Church of Christ in Wahpeton and enjoyed baking cookies and pies for the church, participating in circle, and volunteering wherever she was needed.

Arlene enjoyed spending weekends and summers at their cabin in Park Rapids, MN, which Paul designed and the family built all by hand.  She also enjoyed reading, baking cookies, bread, and pies, and playing bridge with her core group of friends.  Arlene especially loved knitting and her children and grandchildren were blessed to receive sweaters and Christmas stockings lovingly knit by her hands.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband Paul (7/19/2008).  She is survived by her sons, John (Janet) Schultz, Fargo, ND, Michael (Judy) Schultz, Moorhead and Kurt (Holly) Schultz, Gold Canyon, AZ; sister, Joann Lemke, Hayward, WI, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren (and 1 due in February).

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 1:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.  Friends and family may gather together from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
