Arnold F. Miller, 92, of Fargo, died on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Rosewood On Broadway, Fargo, ND.Arnold was born on July 18, 1912 in Des Moines, IA to John and Mary Miller. He attended school in Des Moines graduating in 1930. In 1933 he married Anna Belle Rosen. After working several years for produce companies, he started working for Michael Swanson & Brady Produce Company in Kansas City, MO. The Millers moved to Moorhead, MN in 1939 where Arnold continued working for Michael Swanson & Brady produce and marketing potatoes. Arnold spent 52 years in the produce business retiring in 1979.On December 28, 1963 Arnold married Helen Anderson Ries in Fargo. The couple resided in Moorhead for 39 years then moved to Fargo on December 1, 2002.Arnold was a life member of the following organizations: The Masons Shiloh Lodge, The Elks Lodge, and The El Zagal Shrine. He was also a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo. Arnold was an avid member of the Quarter Horse Associations. He was a long time member of the Red River Valley Horse Breeders Association, elected Horseman of the year in 1978; American Quarter Horse Association, State Director of the Minnesota American Quarter Horse Association, Past President of District 6 Quarter Horse Association, and Past President of the Minnesota State Quarter Horse Association.He competed in the World Championship Quarter Horse Shows for 15 years in Oklahoma City, OK. His last showing at age 85 got four standing ovations. In January 2003 Arnold was elected to the Minnesota Cowboy Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.Arnold is survived by his wife Helen, two daughters; Barbara Jerry Bohnenblust, Germantown, MD, and Shannon Powell, Roseville, MN; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother Arden Miller, Norwalk, IA.The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Order of the Eastern Star ? Moorhead Chapter.
