Arvid W. Peterson

Arvid Willis Peterson was born November 6, 1928, in rural Twin Valley, MN, to Nora and Louie Peterson. Arvid died on February 2, 2019 at Sunnyside Nursing Home, Lake Park, MN.

Arvid worked various jobs in Montana until he joined the Army and served in the Korean War. He married Ruthilda Murphy on November 12, 1955. They lived in Dilworth, MN, and raised their family there. Ruthie passed away in January 1986. Arvid worked as a heavy equipment operator and spent most of his years working for Abbot-Arne-Schwindt Construction.

Arvid married Ethel Hardie on April 21, 1989. They made their home in Dilworth. Ethel passed June 5, 2013. Arvid then moved to the Carriage House Sr. Living in Moorhead in November 2014.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, 49ers union, and St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. Arvid enjoyed playing marbles, cards, going to the casino and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include: sons, Randy (LuGene) Peterson of Lake Park, MN, Lee (Cindy) Peterson of Lake Park, MN; daughter, Sheri (Bill) Little of Rice, MN; stepsons, Walter (Eleanor) Hardie of Fairmont, MN, Charlie (Pat) Hardie of Alexandria, MN, Dennie (Karen) Hardie of Anoka, MN; and his sister, Della Zak of Owatonna, MN. He is also survived by many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Arvid was preceded in death by his wives, Ruthie and Ethel; son, Rodney; step-daughter, Norma Wood; 2 step-grandchildren; parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Dilworth, MN.

Interment will take place in the spring at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
