Aubrey Thomas passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2014 at the age of 92. He will be tremendously missed by his wife of 62 years, Catherine, his four children and their families; daughters, Dodie Bob Halvorsen, LuJean Thomas Greg Haakenson; and sons, Bruce Jane, and Brian Darcy. He also leaves grandchildren, Thomas and Zoe Halvorsen, Lydia and Nick Thomas, Laura Thomas, Jason Jessamy Thomas; brother, Wally Carol; sister, Marlys Burkett; and sister-in-law, Bea Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louie and Alvina; and brothers, Robert and Roy.
Ever the optimist, Aubrey lived his life saying, “I’m the luckiest man in the world.” He delighted in spending time with his loving family and his many wonderful friends.
Aubrey earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart while serving in Europe and Africa during WWII.
During his life he contributed by serving on the Buffalo River Watershed Board, Federal Land Bank of D.L., and American Crystal Sugar Factory Board; he was an active volunteer at his church and many other social organizations.
Visitation: Sunday, January 26, from 2-4 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 4, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Celebration of life: Monday, January 27, at 11 a.m., in North Buffalo Lutheran Church.
Interment: North Buffalo Lutheran Church Cemetery
