Aurlette M. Maattala

December 28, 1919 — March 25, 2005

Aurlette Maattala's appointed date to be with the Lord came on March 25, 2005. She passed away at her home in Moorhead, MN. Aurlette was born to Melvin and Clara Axness of Pelican Rapids, MN. She completed high school at Pelican High School. Aurlette pursued becoming a nurse and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. After a public Health Certification from the University of MN, her nursing career was spent in Minneapolis, MN, Des Moines, IA, and the Veteran's Hospital in Fargo. Aurlette worked in home health care cases throughout her retirement from the Veteran's Hospital, Fargo, ND.Aurlette married Leo Maattala in 1944 and raised five children. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Prayer Fellowship and Circles. Aurlette enjoyed having foreign students live in her home while they attended colleges. She hosted many family gatherings.Her husband Leo, and son Cyd preceded her in death. Surviving her are sons Enson and Daro Maattala, Moorhead; daughters Jethe Johne Custer, Pennsylvania, and Rea Richard Sliper, Michigan; and a sister Harriet Schmitz, Wheaton, MN; and eight grandchildren with nieces and nephews.
