Barbara E. Holman

Barbara Ellen Holman passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022.  Barbara was born September 22, 1938 in Grand Forks, ND. She lived in Grand Forks with her mother and father until 1941. When the United States entered WW2 her father was drafted into the military, they lived in Garden City, KS, Shreveport, LA, Pampa, TX and Sherman, TX. Her father was a flight instructor in the United States Army Air Force. At the end of WW2 Barbara and her family moved to Fargo, ND. She attended Fargo Public Schools and Oak Grove Lutheran High School where she graduated in 1957.

After high school, Barbara attended flight attendant school in Chicago, IL and was employed with Capital Airlines. She then moved back to Fargo and graduated from Dakota Business College and worked at BCBS ND until 1963.

Barbara married James R. Holman on April 20^th, 1963 and had 3 daughters. She was able to stay at home to care for the girls while they were young. In 1975 Barbara began her employment at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fargo and worked there 25 years until her retirement in 2000.

Barbara was a devoted and loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished and adored her family and enjoyed spending much time with them. Barbara remained lifelong friends with many people from her high school years. She also created lifelong friendships with her coworkers from her time at Northwestern Bell. They loved to get together whenever they could and she treasured the friendship they had over the decades.

She is survived by her daughters Marisa Holman-Forsgren (Maurice), Pamela Samuelson (Steven Cole), grandson Tyler Forsgren (Elizabeth), granddaughters Elisabeth Sondrol (Abraham Potvin), Alyssa Oberg (Jeremiah) and great grandson Oliver Oberg.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Ann Holman, husband James R. Holman, parents Harley and Corinne Horken, and sister C. Victoria Horken

Visitation will be Thursday, February 17, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
