Barbara G. Krugler

Barbara Gail Krugler (nee Ellingson) was born on May 11, 1934 in Argyle, MN to Bernard and Edna Ellingson. The family moved soon after to Crookston, MN. After graduating from Crookston High School she attended Bemidji State College, where her schooling was waylaid by F. Robert (Bob) Krugler. The couple married in 1953, while Bob was in the armed services. He was posted to Germany, and Barb joined him there long enough to start their family of four children.

After Bob finished his schooling in 1958, the family moved to Fargo where Bob took a job with the Eide Helmeke accounting firm, and then to their home of 48 years in Moorhead in 1960. There they raised “the most normal family we know.” Barb was very involved in her children’s activities, and also in the music programs at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead, especially the women’s bell choir.

Barb became the consummate grandmother. She was known to her family as loving and supportive, inquisitive, clever, intrepid, and tech-savvy. She loved following the activities of her family on Facebook and flexing her wordsmith skills with Scrabble online and off. Her chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are a family legacy, as is her musicality.

She is survived by Bob, her devoted husband of 64 years; children Brad (DeeAnn) Krugler of Moorhead; Brenda (Mark) Hansen, Burna Krugler (Mark Brancel), Barb (Tom) Burk, all of St. Paul; grandchildren Elissa, Trygve, Kari, Per, Anna, Kip, Derek, Kiara, Stefan, and Maren; 9 great grandchildren; brother Ron Ellingson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Jim (Sally) Ellingson.

Barb struggled with lung issues for almost 30 years and at last succumbed to eosinophilic pneumonia. All her children and grandchildren were part of the choir that sang her into a restful peace surrounded by boundless love.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead (610 13^th St. N), with visitation at 12 noon. Luncheon follows the service.
