Barbara A. Krabbenhoft

Barbara Ann Krabbenhoft passed away on September 27, 2023, at Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care (Dilworth, MN) with family at her side. She was 85. Barbara was born to Adolph and Clara (Olson) Larson in Ulen, Minnesota on June 11, 1938. She grew up in rural Ulen and graduated from Ulen High School in 1956. She attended Interstate Business School focusing on secretarial classes in 1965.  

In October 1958, Barbara married Roger D. Luthi (Ulen, MN) at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdahl, MN and they lived in Ulen until Roger passed away in 1964 following a short illness; they had one daughter.  In June 1968, Barbara married Gerald (Jerry) Krabbenhoft (Sabin, MN) at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. Jerry and Barb celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with family at Serenity Assisted Living in June 2023. Jerry passed away in July 2023.

Barbara worked at WDAY TV (Fargo, ND) for 26 years primarily in TV Traffic supporting sales and advertising. Following that, she worked at Ferrell Gas (Moorhead, MN) and Prairie St. John’s in Medical Records part time before she retired at age 62. Barb also played bass guitar for several years in the classic country band the Valley Playboys Plus One with her husband Jerry. Friends and family looked forward to Barb’s apple pie baking every fall and shared many a pie and platters of fresh baked Christmas cookies over many laughs and good times at the kitchen table. Barb enjoyed embroidering hand towels, tablecloths, pillowcases, crocheting table runners and doilies. Her work was beautiful, and she shared her finished pieces with many.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Luthi-Terry (Paul Terry) of Chaska, MN; grand-daughters, Stephanie Marie Terry of Eden Prairie, MN, and Elizabeth (Daniel) Burwell of Golden Valley, MN; great-grand-daughter, Charley Burwell; brothers, Gordon (Marion) of Merrifield, MN, and Jeffrey (Marilyn) Mandan, ND; sisters, Arlene Meyer, Moorhead, MN, Linda (Bruce) Tinjum, Ulen, MN, and Judy Lucas, Kennewick, Washington; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Harvey) Larson, Moorhead, Karen (Dennis) Mellem, Alexandria, MN, and Janice (George) Gregory, St. Paul, MN; brothers-in-law, Thomas Krabbenhoft (Mary) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Harlan (Pauline) Luthi, Vergas MN, and Bruce (Linda) Luthi, Vergas, MN; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Krabbenhoft; husband, Roger Luthi; parents, Adolph and Clara Larson; brother, Harvey Larson; brothers-in-law, Roy Bixby, Elwood Meyer, Rodney Luthi, George Gregory; grandparents, in-laws, and many aunts and uncles.

Barb’s family thanks the entire team at Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care (Dilworth) and Red River Hospice (Yellow Team) for their caring support and compassion. Our journey was made easier with you by our side.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Barb's page.
