Beatrice May Hatfield

Beatrice M. Hatfield, 84, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Eventide Senior Living in Moorhead.

Beatrice May Montzka was born on December 12, 1929 to Edward and Clara Kriefall Montzka in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1947. She then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951.

Beatrice married Harlan Hatfield on June 17, 1951 in Minneapolis and they made their home in Winona, MN. Beatrice gave birth to three daughters, and after living in various communities in the Upper Midwest, the family settled in Moorhead in 1977. Harlan died on March 31, 2000.

Beatrice was a homemaker and enjoyed her hobbies of crafting, sewing, and gardening. She was very active in the Lutheran Church her entire life.

Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Hatfield, Moorhead; Shelley Terry Cummings, Glyndon, MN; and Rebecca Glen Meints, St. Paul, MN. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Richard and Randall Cummings, and 2 great-grandchildren, Natalia and Javen Cummings.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial Gathering: Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Friends and family may also gather for one hour before the memorial service at the church on Monday.

Memorial Service: Monday, March 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Cemetery, St. Anthony, MN at a later date.
