Bennie P. Hovelsrud

Bennie P. Hovelsrud, 86, of Barnesville, MN, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Sanford Health’s Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.

Bennie was born April 4, 1930, in Parke Township, Clay County, MN, to Albert and Ragnild Hovelson Hovelsrud. He grew up on the family farm and attended Dist. 119 Country School. Following school, he continued farming until the late1950’s. Bennie moved to Hawley in 1959 and started trucking with his brother, Henry. He was very meticulous with his trucks and vehicles; he took pride in equipment he operated. He was a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed working on tractors, especially his Minneapolis Moline, and anything else he could. Most recently he had worked at Akers Farms in Barnesville until retiring.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Henry and sister-in-law, Evaughn Hovelsrud.

He is survived by his dog Molly, a very good friend Steve Akers and many cousins.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 26, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., in Hegland Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

Funeral: Tuesday, July 26, at 10:00 a.m., in Hegland Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

Interment: Hegland Lutheran Church Cemetery.
