The world is a lesser place with the death of Bernadine M. Vinz on Monday evening, July 3l, 2006. She had resided at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, North Dakota, since October, 2005.Bernadine Marcella Call was born to Dr. A. M. Call and Camilla Egeland Call in Rugby, North Dakota, on March 18, 1912, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She continued her education at Miss Woods Kindergarten School in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she received a teaching certificate. She taught school at Sanish and Leeds, North Dakota. On June 27, 1937, she married George Leland Vinz, a fellow teacher, from Frazee, Minnesota.The couple lived at Leeds and Kenmare, North Dakota, and Boyes, Montana, before settling at Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they started their family. They later moved to Merriam, Kansas. Bernadine moved to Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1992.Bernadine was devoted to her family and took wonderful care of everyone. All who came to her door were welcome. She was a good cook who prepared meat-and-potato dinners even on the hottest summer nights, and there were always tasty baked goods in her kitchen. She liked to sing and read, she enjoyed rides in the car, she adored butter brickle ice cream. She was a person of faith, and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" was her unspoken creed. Mostly she was known for her sweet disposition and her warm, friendly smile. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to have her in their lives.Bernadine is survived by her son Mark Vinz and wife Betsy, Moorhead, Minnesota; her daughter Camilla Wilson and husband Mike, Wichita, Kansas; granddaughters Katie Vinz, Moorhead, Minnesota, and Sarah Vinz, Austin, Texas; her brother Mark Call and wife Lucille, Quincy, Washington. Her husband, her parents, and her sister Mildred McDonald preceded her in death.A private family graveside service will be held at Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where Bernadine will be buried alongside her husband.
