Bernice Manda Lebeda, 87, of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2020, in Hawley Senior Living. She was born on March 13, 1933, in rural Hawley, MN to Roy and Inez Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed. Bernice started country school and graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1951. After graduation, she married Kenneth Lebeda and together they raised two children in Hitterdal, MN.
Bernice had talents of playing the accordion and piano by ear. She was proud to be Norwegian and enjoyed speaking it with the elderly. Bernice and Kenny enjoyed playing scrabble in the evenings and watching Wheel of Fortune. They also enjoyed playing Bingo. They enjoyed many summers at their place on Lake Eunice with their kids and grandchildren.
Bernice later moved to Northside Terrace Apartments in Hawley, and later to Hawley Senior Living where she enjoyed visiting with her friends. Hawley Senior Living and Hospice took very good care of Bernice.
Bernice is survived by her son, Wayne (Renee) Lebeda and Nancy (Dave) Holmquist; grandchildren, Tyler (Jennie) Pender, Cassidy (Erica) Pender, and Ashley Pender; great-grandchildren, Madison Carson, Kendra Jayden, and Coltyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Inez; in-laws, Jim and Neva Lebeda; husband, Kenneth; sisters, Rubye and Orpha; and brother, Leroy.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
