Bernice J. Gorden, 92, of Moorhead, MN formerly Glyndon, MN, died on Friday, June 11, 2010, at Eventide Lutheran Home.Bernice Berg was born on November 29, 1917 on the Litchville, ND farm home of her parents, John and Karen Brodskift Berg. Her formal education went through 8th grade at the Litchville Township Country School, but her 'living education' stretched out the next 80 years as she served others and cared for her family. Bernice married Archie Gorden on March 19, 1938, and after living in Litchville and Marion, ND, they moved to their farm home in rural Glyndon, MN in 1947, where they lived until 1993, when they moved to Moorhead. Bernice and Archie had four children, to whom they instilled a love of music, a deep sense of family and a strong relationship with Jesus Christ that has been passed down through many generations. Bernice's love for people showed through her years of service to her church; acting as the organist at North Lamoure Lutheran Church from age 15 for over a dozen years and teaching Sunday School for nearly 30 years at Glyndon Lutheran Church; and to her community, where she was involved in the PTA, 4-H, YWCA and the Boy Scouts. Bernice brought her outgoing personality and infectious laughter to the various jobs she worked over the years in addition to being a farm wife, including time as a cook at the Glyndon school, the operator of the Glyndon Grill restaurant, and an attendant at the Buffalo River State Park. Bernice is survived by one son, Jerome "Jerry" Sharon Gorden, Osage, MN; two daughters, Linda Jim Wilkie, Fargo, ND and Janet Tom Zettervall, Coon Rapids, MN; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchilren; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and one sister; her husband, Archie; one son, Dennis; one grandson and one great-grandson.
