Betty Lou (Moe) Dravitz, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Catherine’s North, Fargo, ND.
Betty was born on April 14, 1929, to Julius and Vida (Shroyer) Moe in New Rockford, ND. Betty grew up in New Rockford where she graduated from New Rockford High School. She attended Interstate Business College for two years after high school. After college, Betty began her career as a secretary for the Air Force Academy and then the Air Force Reserve in Denver, CO. She then worked at the recruiting office for the Defense Department first in Denver, CO, and again after moving to Fargo, ND. She began working as a legal secretary in Minneapolis, Wahpeton, and San Diego for 4 years prior to moving to Moorhead, MN. In Moorhead, she worked at MSU in the placement office as an office staff member for 19 years before retiring in 1990. Betty was united in marriage to Tony Dravitz on May 4, 1955, in Denver, CO. They were later divorced in 1971 in San Diego, CA.
Betty was a proud member of the BPW (Business and Professional Women) in Moorhead, MN. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, a legacy she continued as her father was in France in WWI. She was also a den mother for both the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of America and was a secretary for the Fargo, Moorhead Singles Club.
Betty loved music, enjoyed a good book, and needlework, specifically candle-wicking and embroidery.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Thomas (Laura) Dravitz, Moorhead, MN, Douglas (Pamela) Dravitz, Lewisville, TX, and Mark (Alene) Dravitz, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Kimberly (Brandon) Anderson, Moorhead, MN, James (Carli) Dravitz, Fargo, ND, John (Jocelyn) Dravitz, Moorhead, MN, Jennifer (Ty) Del Re, Los Angeles, CA, Ryan (Maria) Dravitz, Denver, CO, Daylen Dravitz, Fargo, ND, and Deandra (Nick) Hollaar, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Anderson, Parker Creighton, Jordan Aurora Dravitz, and Graham Dravitz; sister, Ardy (Bob) Nelson, Mesa, AZ; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Vida; and sisters, Lois Erickson, June Taverna, and Marlys Fornshell.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A private graveside service will be held in New Rockford, ND.
