Betty J. Grinaker

Betty J. Grinaker, 92, Moorhead, MN, died on Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Eventide Moorhead.

Betty Jean Grinaker was born on May 13, 1926, in Sioux Falls, SD, to John and Izetta (Hurbet) Lien. She grew up and attended school in Clark, SD, graduating from high school there. She moved to Seattle, WA, and worked for the phone company before moving to Moorhead, MN. She married Wilbert Krabbenhoft and they farmed south of Glyndon, MN, where they raised four children.

For many years, Betty was a homemaker and sold Avon, she was the top saleslady for Avon in her territory for many years. She went to work at MeritCare where she continued to work until she was 79 years old.

Betty married Lyle Grinaker on August 5, 1980 and they lived in Glyndon.

Betty loved to dance. Her uncle had a dance hall in Clark, SD, and she would go there every weekend to dance. She loved music, especially big band music. She also loved to work and was proud of her long tenure at MeritCare.  She was a loving and caring mother who was fun to be around. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Carol Mendy, Moorhead, MN, and Linda Romaine, Audubon, MN; son Kent (Julie) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead, MN; son-in-law Greg Peterson, Moorhead, MN; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judith Peterson; husband, Lyle Grinaker; ex-husband, Wilbert Krabbenhoft; and her great-grandson, Dylan Romaine.

Memorial Service: Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
