Betty J. Henderson

Betty J. Quiggle Henderson, age 86, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.Betty Jane Quiggle was born on September 18, 1925 to Walter and Elgie Blankenship Quiggle in Moorhead, MN. She grew up and attended school in Baker and Glyndon, MN. After high school, Betty moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she married Stephen Henderson on August 17, 1946. Together they raised their family in Torrance, CA. She cared for her husband for four years while he battled ALS before his death in 1961. In 1977, Betty returned to Moorhead, MN. She was one of the first residents of Eventide Fairmont, where she resided for almost 30 years. Betty enjoyed music, dancing and was an exceptional bowler in her early years. She is survived by her children, Jayne Jerry Leininger of Encinitas, CA, Judy Thomas of Salt Lake City, UT and Stephen L. Penny Henderson of Albany, OR and grandchildren, Erin and Eric Leininger, Stephen M., Travis and Brandi Henderson; one great-grandchild; siblings, Ethel Quiggle, Moorhead, MN and Lois Herman Poltl of Santa Maria, CA; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings; Rachel Smithwick, Charlotte Stromme, and Grant, Robert and Gerald Quiggle.
