Betty Johnson Gee, 73, of Lake Park, MN, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 24, at her home.
She was Born in Pueblo, Colorado, on December 21, 1942, to Charles and Nina Rockwood. She grew up and raised three of her five children in Denver, before making Lake Park, Minnesota, her home. Once in Lake Park she kept busy by joining the community choir, working in retail, owning the Cafe, and co-owning a daycare before retiring in 2009.
In 1995 she met her future husband, Fred Gee, and became a widow in 2001.
Throughout the years she was known to many as “mom” or “grandma” and during her life became a safe haven for hundreds of kids. She was the most caring and compassionate person you could ever know and even though she is gone she will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, sister Nina, son Michael, and daughter Betty Ann.
She leaves behind three daughters; Mary Tannenbaum of Superior, CO, Shannon Sellers and Shelly Richard Owens of Lake Park, MN. Also, nine grandchildren; Nichole Herrera, Michelle Gurule, Kasi Jacobs, Dereck and Devin Wilson, Savanna and Chace Sellers, and Christina and Nicholas Owens. As well as seven great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Grae, Rickie, Eliana, Bella, Ray, and Karsten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Park Legion on Saturday, April 2, from 1-4 P.M.
