Betty Schwab, 82, Fargo, ND, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Betty J. Cossette was born on September 28, 1934 at home in St. Benedict Village near Fargo, ND, to Midas and Alice Sauvageau Cossette. She grew up there and attended St. Benedict Catholic School. Betty married Tony Schwab on August 20, 1952 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. He died in 1980.
Betty had a 32-year career as a production manager, first with R.F. Gunkelman’s and then with General Nutrition Corporation. She was respected by all who worked with her, both for her strong work ethic and her direct approach to getting the job done right.
Betty loved her family more than anything. She always put our needs and wants before her own. She was a loving grandma to Matt, Alex and Amy. Her best times were spent with her family at her lake cabin on West McDonald Lake.
Nobody knew the meaning of hard work and a job well done more than Betty. Even after retiring she didn’t know how to take it easy. She needed to accomplish something every day. At 82 years old, she still worked circles around us. She loved flowers, dancing, laughing and cleaning. She hated to cook, but still made the best potato salad ever.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; brothers Marcel Cossette, Robert Cossette, Andrew Cossette, and Thomas Cossette; sister Denise Vandal; and special friend Francis Johnson.
She is survived by her son Dean Schwab Mary Reiff, Port Charlotte, FL; daughter Gail Duane Hill, Fargo, ND; sister Angela Richard, Wolf Point, MT; grandchildren Matthew Amy Hill, Eden Prairie, MN, and Alex Hill, Minneapolis, MN.
