Beverly J. Baker

Beverly Jean Baker, 88, Fargo, ND, formerly Sabin, MN, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Sanford Palliative Care, surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly J. Delger was born on November 11, 1927, in Fargo, ND, to Herman and Martha Solberg Delger. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1945. She worked at J.C. Penney and Federal Bakery, both Fargo.
Beverly married Duane Baker on June 18, 1947, in Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo and they made their home near Sabin, where they farmed. She worked at Quality Bakery in Fargo, and the Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn in Moorhead where she was head of housekeeping. Beverly was an active member of Glyndon Lutheran Church, belonging to Quilting, Esther Circle and bible study. She was also a member of Homemaker’s Club.
She enjoyed bowling and golfing, 4H, flower gardening including raising Iris and Roses. She was also passionate about fishing in Minnesota and Alaska.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Duane Baker, Fargo, ND; children Sharon Jonnie Holbrook Blackwell, Fairbanks, AK, Daniel D. Baker, Glyndon, MN, Laurie Donald Sakkinen, North Pole, AK, Jim Yvonne Baker, Sabin, MN, and Kurt Sharon Baker, Moorhead, MN; eleven grandchildren, Michele J. Todd Christiansen, Fairbanks, AK, Katie Jo Slama, Eau Claire, WI, Trisha D. Baker, Ft. Rucker, AL, Tera D. Jon Leatherwood Sakkinen, North Pole, AK, Freya A. Sakkinen, Anchorage, AK, Adam F.D. Sakkinen, Fairbanks, AK, Brittany Muchow, Fargo, ND, Kelsey Baker, Sabin, MN, Alex Baker, Sabin, MN, Jessica L. Baker, Moorhead, MN, Megan Jean Baker, Moorhead, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Aurora, Cooper, Brody, Roxanne, Dustin, Lauren and Ty; one great-great-grandchild, Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Ed Krabbenhoft; brother Leland Delger; sisters Darlene Herlick, Juanita Bjonfald, and Marcia Delger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Churches United for the Homeless or the Glyndon Food Bank.
Visitation: Sunday, January 31, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10:00 A.M., in Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN, with visitation one hour before.
Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
