Bonita Louise Lilly

Bonita Louise (Swanson) Lilly, 79, of Phoenix, AZ, was born November 23, 1941, to Gunder and Alice Swanson of Moorhead, Minnesota.  She graduated from Concordia College in 1964.

She married Bud Lilly in 1967.  Bonita was employed by the state of Minnesota as a social worker in Murray and Hennepin counties in Minnesota until 1980. They moved to Phoenix, AZ, and she continued as a social worker at Sun Health in Sun City, AZ.

Bonita and Bud thoroughly enjoyed their retirement by purchasing a 1956 Thunderbird and joining the Thunderbird Car Club where they made many friends and took many trips both in the Thunderbird and on cruises with their new friends. They loved traveling so much that they decided to buy a motorhome and toured America in the summers.

She is survived by her children, Edward (Becky) Lilly, Peoria, AZ, Jean (Ronald) Lemire, Osage, MN; daughter-in-law, Dawn Lilly, Rogers, MN; four grandchildren, Michael Lemire, Nicole (Lilly) Rawson, Taylor Lilly, and Amie (Lilly) Hollermann; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Lemire and Isadora Hollermann.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Gunder and Alice; husband, Bud; and step son, Steven Lilly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 4102 West Union Hills Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., at Concordia Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN. Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service.
