Bonnie Ilene Sorensen

Bonnie Ilene Sorensen, 68, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, in her home in Moorhead, MN. Bonnie was born on April 3, 1949 to Daniel and Cathern (Quigley) DeBoer in Sioux Falls, SD.

Bonnie graduated from Lennox High School in 1967 and enrolled in South Dakota State University soon after. She graduated from SDSU in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in education. Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles Sorensen on December 27, 1971. She taught school in Madison and Tea, SD for a short period of time before moving back to Sioux Falls and working at Westerner Apparel. She then began working for the Post Office before moving to Moorhead in 1995. She worked for the Post Office in Fargo until her retirement in 2015.

Bonnie enjoyed cooking, traveling, dogs, and loved spending time with her grandsons and was an excellent teller of children stories. She was a very kind hearted and caring person who loved talking to anyone and everyone. Bonnie was very welcoming and stood out with her contagious smile.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Audra (Jim) Luetjens; grandchildren, Austin and Tanner Luetjens; siblings, Randy (Jeannine Ogle) DeBoer, Dave (Marilyn) DeBoer, Janelle (Wayne) Shanks, and LaRon (Lori) DeBoer; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Joelle Sorensen; parents, Daniel and Cathern.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN, at 1:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
