Brian A. Bjerken

February 18, 1972 — November 11, 2006

Brian Allen Bjerken, 34, was born February 18, 1972, in Mahnomen, MN. He died November 11, 2006 due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Brian lived his first two years of his life in Hawaii along with his mother and father and later they moved to Moorhead, MN, where he attended school. He graduated from Moorhead Senior High in 1990 and attended Moorhead Tech. He worked for Onecall Locating in Fargo and then bartended at the Windbreak in the Flying J Travel Plaza. He then worked for Strata Masonry. He worked as a carpenter for a few years and for Getz Landscaping in Fargo. Brian liked to work with his hands and hardly ever turned down a project; his creativity was endless. He loved to do construction, woodworking and landscaping projects. He was known for his perfectionism in his work and he took great pride in a job well done. He was a hard worker and he would always help anyone who needed him. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and hunting shack with friends and family. The outdoors were a must for him as the indoors kept him too confined. Brian will be remembered for his infectious smile and free spirit. He was the life of the party and his face and energy would light up an entire room. When you were with Brian you felt special because he loved everyone and made every stranger his friend. He had a heart of gold and a passion for life most admired. His actions were most of our hesitations. He definitely lived his life to the fullest. Brian's life here on this earth ended near the hunting shack, a place he loved dearly and was known by all as "Da Place". For him "Da Place" was where he could live without worries and his spirit could soar. He will be greatly missed as he touched each of our lives in a very special way. Brian is survived by his sons, Park and Brady; his parents, Dennis and Shirley Bjerken of Moorhead, MN; his sister, Barbara Schellenberg, her husband John, and their daughter Ceydee of Chandler, AZ; his maternal grandmother, Anna Mrkvicka of Moorhead; his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Bjerken of Mahnomen; his God Parents, Ron and Dee Winter of Thief River Falls, MN; his many uncles, aunts and cousins; and his dear friend Amy Koss of Minneapolis, MN. The Bjerken family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who extended their prayers and support in this most difficult time.
