Brian N. Lien

Brian N. Lien, 61, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in the Fargo VA Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Brian Noel Lien was born on December 22, 1952, in Moorhead, MN, to James and Shirley Wilkinson Lien. He grew up in Downer, MN where he attended and graduated from Barnesville High School. Following his graduation, Brian served in the United States Navy from 1971 – 1975. He returned from the Military and went on to attend Technical College in the Albert Lea area where he met and married his wife Joann Bergland Lien, on May 7th, 1977. They returned to Moorhead where he worked for Koste Brothers until he started his employment with the US Post Office in Fargo, where he worked as a mail handler for 25 years. He was a Postal Union Representative and a member of the American Legion in Moorhead.

Brian’s quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor will be remembered by all his friends, family and acquaintances. Brian loved fishing, singing karaoke, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings. He especially loved spending time with his Grandchildren, watching them grow, making them laugh and spoiling them with ice cream.

Brian is survived by his wife, Joann; daughters, Teresa Dean Johnson, Perley, MN, Shawna Kevin Steen, Maplewood, MN and Jerralee Will Storbakken, Moorhead; niece, Maggie Atan Beganovic, Fargo; sister, Marsha Canada, Moorhead; brother, Rodney Diane Lien, Mille Lacs, MN; Jane Lien, Grand Junction, CO; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison, Tyler, Brooke, Emily and Breanne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Lien, brother, Donald “Chink” Lien, his niece Nicole Canada and father-in-law, Truman Bergland.

Memorial Gathering: Wednesday, May 14, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Thursday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
