Bruce Collins, age 80, of West Fargo, ND passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Bruce Brian Collins was born on August 3, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Burt and Almeda (Stensrud) Collins. Bruce grew up in Chicago and graduated from Oak Park High School in 1958. Following graduation, Bruce went into the Army Reserve from 1959 to 1965. Bruce married Margaret Phillippe in 1966 and they had one son, Lloyd. Bruce began working for Supervalu as a part-time pilot and a retail engineer for store development. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1983 and Bruce continued to work for Supervalu until his retirement in 2005. The family participated in a YMCA camp and were blessed with a foreign exchange student from Jamaica, Michael Wallace, who became a lifelong family friend. Lloyd tragically died when he was 19 and Margaret died in 2007. Bruce met Colleen Lee in 2009 and they were married in 2019. Bruce moved to West Fargo in 2014 and enjoyed spending time at their second home in Mesquite, Nevada.
Bruce lived an active, outdoors lifestyle and spent his time camping, canoeing, biking, cross-country skiing, and riding motorcycle. He was a member of the ST Owners Motorcycle Club, Mesquite Jeep Organization, Mesquite to Moapa Democrats, and Friends of Gold Butte, and North Star Ski and Bike Club. Bruce was lighthearted, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Colleen Lee; special friend, Michael Wallace; and a niece, nephew, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Margaret Collins; son, Lloyd Collins; and siblings, Craig and Jackie.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M at Rustic Oaks, 12155 3rd St S, Moorhead, MN.
