Bruce Offutt

R. Bruce Offutt, 79, passed peacefully May 2, 2023, at his Glyndon, MN home.

Bruce was born June 17, 1943, to Keith and Blanche (Youmans) Offutt. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon, graduating in 1961. He attended NDSU briefly, then returned to working the family farm.

On May 8, 1965, Bruce married Susan "Susie" Grover. They raised their family on the Buffalo River near Glyndon, enjoying weekends at the lake.

Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting and socializing with friends and neighbors who are like family. He also mastered raising the BEST sweet corn. Bruce truly was the animal whisperer. He made friends with all the many family and farm pets including Frankie the Snowy Owl, baby skunks, George Cooney the raccoon and especially "Hank" the goose. All his furry friends anxiously awaited his arrival with treats in hand.

In his later years, Bruce enjoyed watching music shows, cooking shows and classic westerns in his mancave.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susie; son, Bret (Brenda) Offutt, Glyndon; daughter, Tracy (Kevin) Townes, Franklin, TN; grandson, Zane Offutt (Kayli Bird), West Fargo; sister, Donna (Pat) Woods and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 3:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
