Bruce W. Larkin

Bruce W. Larkin, 69, of Moorhead, MN passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 in his home.

Bruce William Larkin was born in Moorhead on July 2, 1947 to Francis and Grace Hoppe Larkin. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead where he graduated high school in 1965. He went on to attend Moorhead State University.

Bruce had a passion for baseball which he began playing at the age of 13 and continued into adulthood playing fast-pitch softball in Sabin, MN. When he was 16 years old, Bruce started working at Ted’s Super Valu in Moorhead, which is now Hornbacher’s, and worked his way up to a Manager position. It was here where Bruce met Maxine in 1988 and married in 1989. Bruce worked at Hornbacher’s until his retirement in 2011.

Bruce loved to collect baseball cards, a hobby that his childhood and current best friend, David Brunsvold, got him started with. Bruce was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins, but really enjoyed all Minnesota sports. Of all things Bruce loved, nothing was more important than his family. He cared deeply for his children and grandchildren and will be missed by them all.

Bruce is survived by his wife; daughters, Jennifer Tony Shimek, Prior Lake, MN, Melissa Troy Vick, Lakeville, MN, Jessica Chris Olsen, St. Francis, MN; sons, James Larkin, New York, NY, Jason Lee Larkin, Farmington, MN; grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Shimek, Emma Bradley, Mindi, Ashley, Zachary and Andrew Vick, Alex Olsen; great-grandchild, Brady Vick; best friend, David Brunsvold; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Larkin and nephew, John Larkin.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial service: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
