Byron G. “Bud” Standfield

Byron G. “Bud” Standfield, 90 of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in his home.

Bud was born February 25, 1932, in Amenia, ND, to Fred and Josie (Landon) Standfield. He grew up in that area and attended country school through the 8^th grade. When his father passed away Bud was needed to help with the family farm.

He was drafted into the Army and served two years during the Korean War. Following his service, Bud came back to work on the farm before taking a job driving gravel truck, which he did for the next 42 years until his retirement.

On May 3, 1957, Bud married June Hanson in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Dilworth, MN, and raised their family there.

Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and catching every Twins or Vikings game he could. He loved Christmas and making sure the “Tom and Jerrys” were ready to go when family came over.

Bud is survived by children, Dwayne Messerschmidt, Gene Messerschmidt, Jerry Messerschmidt, Sue Standfield, and Bryon (Stacy) Standfield; grandchildren, Chad (Megan) Dickerson, Mathew Dickerson, Jason (Kendra) Dickerson, Blake (Katie) Standfield, Hunter Standfield, Tara (Dave) Snyder, and Brittany (Alex) Rasmussen; great-grandchildren, Weston, Bennett, Carter, Eli, Luke, Nevaeh, and Greyson; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Loren; daughter-in-law, Pat; siblings, Florence, Dorothy, Jean, Bernice, Bill, Mae and all their spouses; and his beloved dog, Keisha.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. The service will be livestreamed here on Bud’s obituary page.

Burial will be in Fargo National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
