Caecilia “Cil” M. Zens

Caecilia “Cil” M. Zens, 70, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, surrounded by her family in Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD.

Caecilia Marie Holzer was born on March 25, 1942 in Strasburg, ND, to Joseph and Elizabeth Baumgartner Holzer. Cil grew up in Aberdeen, SD where she graduated from Central High School in 1960. She met Don Zens in 1958 and they were married on June 13, 1960. They lived in Aberdeen until they moved to Moorhead in 1963, where they have since resided.

Cil was a homemaker who helped raise their four children, Steven, Therese, Corrine and Jeffrey. She was very artistic and enjoyed working in her ceramic shop, Zens Ceramics, in the basement of their home. Cil also was an avid book reader and traveler. She loved visiting family throughout the country.

Cil is survived by her husband, Don Zens, Moorhead; two sons, Steven Zens, St. Paul, MN and Jeffrey Zens, Moorhead, MN; two daughters, Therese Jim Holtgrewe, Eldersburg, MD and Corrine Tony Hauck, Burnsville, MN; mother, Elizabeth Holzer, Aberdeen, SD; six grandchildren, Paige and Hannah Holtgrewe, Kyle, Kade and Kevin Hauck and Emily Davis; sisters, Isabella Walters, Norco, CA, Joanne Frank Schwan, Aberdeen, SD, Sally Joe Hanson, Pierre, SD, Pat Carl Denning Berger, Aberdeen, SD, Mary Cose, Fargo, ND and Betty Even, Aberdeen, SD; brothers, Jim Marilyn Holzer, St. Louis Park, MN and Larry Holzer, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Holzer and brother, Bobby Holzer.

Visitation: Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
